| What is a
champion and what role does a champion play? |
A champion is a volunteer who is willing
to enter into a relationship with one of the JfL students
in which the champion helps the student reach his/her God-given
potential. The champion will encourage the student during
the class and maintain that support once the student is
employed. Ideally, the champion and the student will develop
a lifelong relationship with one another so that each will
be blessed by experiencing life’s journey together.

| How many champions
are needed for a class? |
It depends on the amount of students
in the class. We recommend at least 1 mentor for every 2
students. Ideally, the amount of champions would be equal
to or even more than the amount of students. That will ensure
the students are receiving adequate support. Many times
though, it is not possible to find enough champions to equal
the amount of students. In those cases, it works well to
have the champions operate as a team as they provide support
to the class. For example, there might be 10 students in
the class and only 5 champions. In that case, the champions
will work together to understand the students’ needs
and implement a collective strategy to provide the support
needed for each student to be successful.
